In 2001, NASCAR® turned to tiwi™ to supply the first crash data recorders to be installed in all race vehicles, and tiwi began providing a steady stream of data services that helped influence critical design and engineering decisions leading to The Car of Tomorrow, the Safer Barrier and other safety improvements. Today, tiwi technology powers a standalone wireless system – placed on the windshield of competition vehicles – that provides NASCAR® Timing and Scoring officials with an accurate count of laps completed as well as extremely accurate track positioning data.
Tiwi has served as the primary sponsor for driver Chad McCumbee and the SS Green Light Racing team in several NASCAR Camping World Truck Series events this season.
Although new as a sponsor, McCumbee has benefited from tiwi since he started racing in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in 2006 in the form of tiwi’s precision lap counter and the crash-box-data recorder technology used by NASCAR.

“Okay, so how many drivers who say that are proud to have their sponsor on board are able to mean it literally?” McCumbee noted. “I have always been proud to have tiwi on board because I know that their crash data recorders have contributed significantly to the safety of our sport. As a driver, there’s nothing more important than safety.”
“We couldn’t be more pleased to have Chad driving the tiwi brand, said tiwi CEO, Todd Follmer. “Chad is a great role model as a driver and we hope his visibility will help more teen and commercial drivers understand the unique safety benefits of tiwi technology.”
